Summary of the April 22 Seal Beach City Council meeting

Closed session

The Seal Beach City Council took no reportable action during the Monday, April 22, closed session, according to City Attorney Nicholas Ghirelli. The council met to have a conference with the city’s labor negotiators, City Manager Jill Ingram and Assistant City Manager Patrick Gallegos, according to the agenda. The agenda identified two employee organizations that Seal Beach is negotiating with: The Police Officers Association and the Police Management Association.

Regular meeting

During the public portion of the meeting, the City Council:

• Proclaimed April 2024 the Month of the Military Child.

• Proclaimed April 26 to be Arbor Day.

• Proclaimed May 5 to May 11 to be the 55th annual Professional Municipal Clerk’s Week.

• Proclaimed April 2024 to be Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

• Received an update on Orange County Sanitation District Construction.

Following proclamations, the council:

• Received the quarterly report of contracts approved by the city manager and city department heads.

• Approved the second amendment to contracts with the city’s two towing services.

• Approved a memorandum of understanding between Seal Beach and two employee groups: The Seal Beach Mid-Management and Confidential Employees Association and the Seal Beach Supervisors & Professionals Association. (See story, page 1.)

• Created a Citizen-Citizen-Council Stormwater Advisory Ad-Hoc Committee. Public members of the committee will be appointed at a future date.
