Los Alamitos High School Choir Director David Moellenkamp will host a pair of music camps this summer for performers interested in honing their stage performance skills.
The Musical Theatre Workshop will take place July 22-26. Attendees will take classes in dance, theatre and voice while working with Broadway professionals. The workshop will culminate with campers performing in a musical theatre review.
The Show Choir Boot Camp will take place July 29-Aug. 2. Attendees will learn dance, voice musicianship and performance techniques and perform music from an award-winning show choir competition set.
Both camps will take place from 9 a.m. to noon for incoming seventh to ninth grade students and 1-5 pm for incoming ninth to 12th grade students. Incoming ninth grade students have the option of attending either session or both sessions of the camps. They will take place on the campus of Los Alamitos High School in the Choir Room #518. Each camp will also culminate in a Friday evening performance at 7 p.m. at Los Alamitos High School. The cost for the morning session is $180 and the cost for the afternoon session is $200.
Students attending two or more camps will receive a discount of $25. Siblings attending also receive a discount of $25 per camp as well.
David Moellenkamp is the director of the Los Alamitos High School Choir Program. Under his direction for the past five years, Los Al choirs have won several national championships and have been recognized throughout the country for their achievements numerous times. More than 350 student performers are currently in the choir program, making it the largest extra-curricular activity on the campus of LAHS.
