Weaver student takes a stand against bullying

Weaver Elementary Ambassador and Junior Girl Scout Gwyneth Poetsch rallied her school and fellow Girl Scouts to come together in sock solidarity. She asked everyone to sport their misfit socks to celebrate what makes them different and take a stand against bullying.

Gwyneth explained that: “We are all different, but sometimes our differences can make us feel like we don’t fit in or don’t matter. Nobody should ever be tossed aside like a ‘misfit sock’ that loses its perfect match in the laundry, leaving it feeling invisible, lonely, and forgotten.”

Together they sent a powerful message that their differences matter by participating in the Million Misfit Sock March on Friday, Oct. 25, the start of National “Make a Difference” Day weekend.

“It was a reminder that they are all in this misfit sock pile together,” said her mother Jeanne Poetsch. “Their principal, Mrs. Erin Kominsky, felt the message was so important that they added it to their Red Ribbon Week dress up days. It was inspiring to see her school that Friday sporting their misfit socks.”
