The 27th Annual Seal Beach Classic Car Show takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 26.
This year’s event will showcase 600-plus vintage cars, hot rods, custom cars, antiques, and celebrity appearances.
The event is free and open to the public and promises to draw a larger crowd than last year’s estimated 28,000 attendees.
With the influx of cars packed with families and friends from all over Southern California, the question of where to park them with convenient access to the show was a pressing one.
The answer came about a month ago, from the Naval Weapons Station in Seal Beach. For the first time in many years, the Naval Weapons Station will open its Liberty Gate to the public and allow Car Show attendees to park on base property that straddles Anaheim Bay, immediately adjacent to the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Seal Beach Boulevard.
Parking opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m.
From Pacific Coast Highway, guests will turn south, towards the Ocean, onto Seal Beach Blvd. and proceed approximately 500-feet to the Liberty Gate entrance.
Parking Staff will be on hand to direct cars to their spaces.
There is a courtesy shuttle service, which will run every 10 to 12 minutes from the Weapons Station to the entrance of the Sponsor Corral, near Show Central.
Once they arrive at the Car Show, attendees will enjoy live music throughout the day from six bands playing on three stages, countless fun and interesting vendor and nostalgic displays, including a pair of historical Helms Bakery wagons and a special police vehicle display.
The Seal Beach Cub Scout Pack 116 will again host a Pinewood Derby at the Pier from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The show will be nationally broadcast on two networks – Velocity Network “Lokar Classic Car Series,” and “Dream Rides,” on MAT Network.
Master’s Entertainment is producing the two televised segments.
Pack everyone into the car and head to the Seal Beach Classic Car Show this Saturday and rest assured that you won’t have to walk a great distance or pay for parking.
