More than 800 people, including world famous athletes, lined up for the grand opening of Watch Me! Sports Bar, which opened on Friday, July 26, at The Marketplace Shopping Center (6527 E. PCH) in Long Beach. Athletes such as Maddy Focht (World Champion Rower), Penny Toler (Los Angeles Sparks Basketball), Saskia Webber (USWNT 1999 World Champion Soccer), Lauren Pappin and Amanda Fama (Olympic Softball Players) helped celebrate women’s sports along with owners Jackie Diener and Megan Eddy, who saw their dream come true with the unveiling of a local sports pub/bar to show women’s sports exclusively.
Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson, who stood in front of a bank of 26 high-definition televisions all broadcasting sports, said: “This place is incredible. It’s California’s first bar celebrating women’s sports and they chose Long Beach to do it. It’s also only the 5th women’s sports bar in the World!”
The owners, who go by the names Jax and Emme, strategically aligned their grand opening with the opening of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, and introduced a menu crafted by Chef Charlie Ray (Food Network’s Battle of The Decades Television Show). Menu items include burgers, ribeye, wings, fries, flatbreads, chicken sandwiches, pasta, fish and a full bar plus craft brews and wine, mocktails and non-alcoholic drinks.
Their hours are Monday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. You can see a full menu and learn more at: watchmesportsbar.com.
