Authorities have identified the man whose body was found on a jetty in Seal Beach, local police announced Sunday night, July 20. He was identified by fingerprints, according to Seal Beach Police Sgt. Phil Gonshak.
“He is a 60 year old, Artesia, California, resident named, Edward Manual Garcia. This case is no longer being considered suspicious; but rather, accidental,” Gonshak said.
On Thursday, July 17, at 9:36 a.m., Seal Beach Police Officers and Lifeguards responded to the Southern Seal Beach Jetty, following a report of an unconscious/unidentifiable individual lying face down in the rock line.
Upon arrival, officers and lifeguards located a dead man of unknown age and race,; wearing black “Adidas” shoes with white stripes, face down between several large rocks.
A death investigation is now being conducted by Seal Beach Police investigators and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department – Coroner Division.
Information is extremely limited; therefore, an autopsy will be conducted and the cause of death is pending.
