Update: Seal Beach Lifeguards have reopened the pier after Orange County health officials determined the water was safe to swim in, according to Seal Beach Marine Safety Officer Nick Bolin.
Orange County Health Care Agency officials tested the water off Seal Beach Wednesday morning, July 20, and determined at that time that it was not yet safe for people to go into the water. At that time, Marine Safety Department Lt. Chris Pierce, believed that, at the earliest, the beach would be open for swimming on Friday morning.
The ocean water off Seal Beach was been closed to the public, July 21. The Orange County Health Care Agency ordered the beach closed due to a sewer spill in Los Angeles. The water remained closed to swimmers (and surfers) until two water tests in a row came back clean.
