Dear John and Eddie,

The news of your passing was devastating to us. Your human and dog friends at Seal Beach Animal Care Center wish to thank you for your friendship. Eddie, you were one of our former residents and went home with John about five years ago. We knew it was the perfect match. John, the two of you were soul mates. How lucky you found each other. Not everyone has that special connection with someone else. You were always together around town. When you rode your bike to visit the shelter we would see Eddie in the basket. It scared us a little but Eddie would never jump out. Always together.

John, we got to see a different side of you that not everyone knew. You were a devoted dog lover just like us and worked on raising money for our shelter for years. You had a unique personality, and you spent many hours at the shelter chatting with us and sharing ideas about how to raise funds to keep the shelter going and helping dogs with special needs and upcoming surgeries. You were a special volunteer and we all appreciated the time you spent to work with us. Who knew that the fundraiser last Wednesday night at Glory Days would be our last time together? Again, trying to raise funds for our office dogs who are older and need meds. Our last memory of you both will be Eddie carried like a baby upside down, all around the event. We wanted everyone to know you were a kind, gentle man, with a big generous heart. To think that someone may have harmed the two of you is beyond comprehension. Our only consolation is that you are both together in a happier, better place than our crazy world.

Your last words to one of our volunteers that night were, “Save the world.” We wish we could have also saved the two of you.

Rest in Peace John and Eddie.
