The Youth Center is halfway to its $200K goal for its 2022 fundraising campaign. The campaign started on March 1 and goes through March 25. The fundraising campaign will culminate in an All In For The Kids Casino Night on March 25 at The Youth Center.
Less than two weeks remain to meet the $200K goal. Thanks to the generosity of the community, The Youth Center has raised just over $110K to date. They continue to focus on gaining corporate sponsorship and donations from individuals in order to reach their goal.
Southland Credit Union President and CEO, Tom Lent, leads the 25th Annual Community Support Campaign as Campaign Chair, charged with raising much needed funds for The Youth Center to provide scholarships to families in need and further the non-profit’s pursuit to nurture youth in mind, body and spirit.
In addition to providing scholarships, money raised during the campaign will help provide tutoring and homework help, instrumental music instruction, and teen leadership, life skills and career training.
One hundred campaigners joined together to support this one cause. One campaigner, Kristin DiMiceli, owner of Garage Pilates in Los Alamitos, said, “I’m a local small business owner, Board of Directors member of Los Alamitos Chamber of Commerce, and Seal Beach resident. My husband John and I have 3 very busy teenagers with (what seems like) countless activities and found The Youth Center when our eldest volunteered at the Christmas Tree stand event held at Ganahl Lumber. Once we became aware of this amazing community organization, we have enjoyed supporting The Youth Center and are looking forward to being a part of this Annual Campaign.”
Another campaigner, Arnie Fine stated, “I’m a salesman in the Industrial Pipe, Valve, and Fitting business. I have been involved with youth programs since the age of 18, when I was a part-time supervisor of a youth center in my neighborhood. I have been on the Board of Directors of this amazing organization for over 30 years now. I have witnessed tremendous growth of this organization, both in the awesome programs that we provide our youth and also the individuals that make The Youth Center the award winning non-profit that it is today. I am very proud that The Youth Center helps shape the lives of many individuals that step through our doors everyday.”
Lina Lumme, executive director of The Youth Center said, “We are beyond grateful to our dedicated staff, our generous community, Tom Lent and 100 wonderful campaigners for working tirelessly to raise the funds needed to help even more deserving kids and their families this year.”
The All In For The Kids Casino Night at the conclusion of the campaign will provide guests the fun and excitement of playing in a real casino, but instead of going to Las Vegas, Las Vegas will come to them. The fun begins on March 25, from 6 to 10 p.m. at The Youth Center in Los Alamitos. Guests will enjoy a night of delicious food, drinks and entertainment, Vegas style. David Harlow, of New Zealand Wine Navigator will provide a free wine tasting of No.1 Family Estate Cuvée Methode (Bubbles), Darling Sauvignon Blanc (Cert. Organic/Biodynamic), Mondillo Pinot Noir (Central Otago) and Mills Reef Elspeth Cabernet Sauvignon (Gimblett Gravels). The Title Sponsor of the event is Southland Credit Union.
