The Los Alamitos Education Foundation is partnering again with Seal Beach Police Chief Joe Stilinovich, a past King of Hearts candidate, for another exciting Polar Plunge on New Year’s Day at the Seal Beach Pier. Proceeds from the event will benefit both the Seal Beach Police Foundation and LAEF King & Queen of Hearts candidates.
The Polar Plunge, in which Chief Joe leads participants on a run into the ocean on the north side of the pier, will take place at noon on Friday, Jan. 1. Adult tickets and student tickets (18 years old and under) are available through the LAEF website at www.LAEF4Kids.org/KingAndQueen or at the event.
Check-in will begin at 11 a.m. and burgers will be cooking from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burger patties have been donated by Griffins Grill co-owner and King of Hearts candidate Matt Herrick.
The Seal Beach Lions will be on hand to cook up the lunch and to serve it. In addition to lunch, all participants will receive a Katin beanie to keep them warm following their first ocean swim of 2016! For those who would rather not plunge into the ocean, there are Plunge Protection tickets available. Plunge Protection ticket holders will receive a sticker protecting them from plunging, lunch and a beanie. These tickets are also available for purchase at the LAEF website or at the event.
The LAEF Royal Court candidates for the King & Queen of Hearts campaign are Los Al alumna Gina Biri, School Board member Diana Hill, Seal Beach Lion of the Year Adriana Preciado-Ziegenbusch, Rossmoor Elementary Principal Kiva Spiratos, Dr. Sean Braithwaite of Braithwaite Chiropractic, Matt Herrick of Southland Credit Union and Griffins Grill, and Aaron Roberts of Anytime Fitness. Each of them has an individual fundraising link on the website LAEF4Kids.org. The King and Queen will be crowned at the Royal Ball and Coronation gala on Feb. 19 at the Grand Event Center in Long Beach. The Royal Court candidates are in the midst of a 10-week fundraising campaign, which culminates at the gala. Candidates were chosen for their connectivity to the school district, passion for educational excellence and general can-do attitude.
