Scott Evans Dekraai, 41, the man charged with the Seal Beach Salon Meritage murders, is due back in court today. Dekraai, a Huntington Beach resident accused of eight murders and one attempted murder that occurred on Oct. 12, is scheduled to appear in court at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 24, at the request of his attorney, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Dekraii’s attorney has apparently requested a Hearing for Declaration of Conflict. “It is expected that the defendant will have a new attorney appointed at that time,” said a press release from the DA’s Office.
He is being held without bail and is scheduled to appear in court for a continued arraignment, Nov. 29, at 8:30 a.m. in Department C-55, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana. At an arraignment, the formal charges are read and the defendant formally enters a plea.
