Seth Eaker named Seal Beach Citizen of the Year by Cypress College

Seth Eaker has been named the 2014 Seal Beach Citizen of the Year by Cypress College. He will be honored, along with other recipients of the award and others from various cities on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the 39th Americana Awards at the Disneyland Grand Ballroom.

He was also a board member for the Seal Beach Victims Fund Trust set up in 2011.

Over the last ten years, his company, Black Marble Consulting, LLC, has helped its dozens of clients raise money, organically grow their business and create new revenue streams. His current focus has been in helping small businesses become more efficient in their operations and marketing, resulting in higher profits and margin.

Eaker was named one of Philadelphia Business Journal’s Top 40 under 40 in May 2006. From 1998 – 2006 he was part of Blue Ball in Philadelphia and was a founding board member of the Sapphire Fund and is currently an advisor.

Since 2007, he joined the board of directors for the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce. He was Vice President, President, Past President, supported many committees and currently chairs Governmental Affairs. From 2008 – 2013 Eaker was a member of the DWP advisory committee for the City of Seal Beach.

In 2010, Seth was named to the Commissioning Committee for the USS Dewey by the Navy and served in that capacity through the commissioning at the Naval Weapons station.

In 2011, he joined the board of the Run Seal Beach organization as Executive Board Secretary and currently serves. He has been chairman of the Legislative Action Committee of West Orange County (LACWOC) since late 2009 to April 2011 and still serves as co – chair.

He is a member of the California Small Business Association (CSBA) and advocates as co-chair of the Tax and Budget subcommittee. In 2012, Eaker was named Small Businessman of the Year by the Seal Beach Chamber and Grand Marshal of the Seal Beach Christmas Parade.

Eaker was also named Seal Beach Citizen of the Year by Cypress College for the 2014 Americana Awards. Seth also has been a proud Seal Beach Lion and is the PR co-chair of the Christmas Parade, and supports other major Lions events, including the Fish Fry.

Having won multiple business plan competitions and written dozens of plans, Seth creates winning documents from single owner businesses to small & midsize firms. He facilitates group development, leadership and strategic planning for non-profits and business.

Before starting his own ventures, Eaker distinguished himself as acting regional marketing director for Sodexo, USA’s Mid Atlantic region, where he managed $200 million in account volume.

Earlier work includes culinary training and work as a sous chef, operations manager and general manager for Marriott Management Services. Areas of passion include reading, visual arts, physical fitness, cooking, wine and world travel. He and his husband, Anthony Eaker-Morgan were married in Seal Beach on December 6, 2013 after being together for 13 years.
