The city of Seal Beach is constructing a new storm drain system in the vicinity of Electric Avenue between Seal Beach Boulevard and 14th Street. The new storm drain system will help alleviate some drainage concerns for the eastern portion of Old Town Seal Beach.
The project began in September and is expected to be finished before Labor Day. Currently the first and second portions of the project are finishing up and the third step in the construction is set to begin. Starting the first week in April, the north side of Electric Avenue will be open to traffic and parking on both sides of the street. During this time parking will be restricted on the south side of Electric Avenue and daytime street closures will commence.
This is necessary to connect the south side of Electric Avenue to the storm drain system.  During this closure, detour signs will be posted for traffic to use alternate routes around this closure. Orant County Bus Routes 42 and 42A will not take Electric Avenue until construction is complete. The city is encouraging the use of Ocean Avenue to Seal Beach Boulevard to avoid the construction. The city is working closely with its contractor, Excel Paving Company, to create as little inconvenience as possible for you and others affected by the work.
