Seal Beach Sea Cadets honored at annual Awards tea event

Cadet Frencess Lam (L) and Cadet Brandon Ma received the DAR Outstanding Cadet Award from their Commanding Office, Ensign Mason Ettinger (R) and Western Shores Chapter NSDAR.

Nearly 200 people attended the 67th Annual Scholarship and Patriotic Awards Tea held by Western Shores Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution on April 13, in Lakewood.

The Seal Beach Battalion of the Naval Sea Cadets opened the ceremonies with a four Cadet Color Guard. Two additional Cadets from the Seal Beach Battalion were honored as Outstanding Cadets for their exemplary performance in a non-ROTC military affiliated Cadet Program. Seaman Apprentice Frencess Lam of the Seal Beach Battalion and Apprentice Cadet Brandon Ma, Training Ship Sea Lion, received the DAR Outstanding Cadet Award after being nominated by their Commanding Officer, Ensign Mason Ettinger.
