The Seal Beach city government has returned to holding public meetings online. The meetings will be virtual until at least the end of the month.
City Hall will remain open for now.
The news first broke Friday, June 10, when Acting City Clerk Dana Engstrom released the revised agenda package for the June 13 council meeting. “Please note, these meetings will now be held via Zoom,” Engstrom wrote in the June 10 email.
City Manager Jill Ingram elaborated in an email sent that same day, writing that “unfortunately, and as noted on the Council agenda, in response to a current COVID outbreak and multiple exposures within our organization, I have determined that it is necessary to hold the Council meeting remotely in order to protect the health and safety of the public, City officials, and staff.”
On Monday night, June 13, City Attorney Craig Steele said that prior to the closed session of the council, based on COVID-19 tests, the council found the need to hold virtual meetings to the end of the month.
