Once a year, Rossmoor residents, friends and family members come together to celebrate the uniquely quaint, tree-lined neighborhood.
The time has come again.
The Rossmoor Community festival, co-sponsored by the Rossmoor Homeowners Association and the Rossmoor Community Service District, will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, May 6 at Rush Park.
Everyone is welcome to attend the family event. “Come early stay – late” is the organizers’ motto. The ever-popular classic car show fills up the southeast section of the park with both old and unique vehicles. Prizes are awarded for the various categories and many car enthusiasts and groups participate.
More rides and games added for kids of all ages and wristbands for the day will be sold for only $20.
Live entertainment includes our favorite magician “Mister Pork Pie” Sound Waves, Jazz Angels, Friday Night Lights Dance Group, and Sportin’ Woodie Band.
The day begins at 10 a.m. with the first annual High Heel Dash sponsored by We Care.
The Dash is open to children, teens, seniors, gentlemen, and ladies as long as they run in two-inch heels. One division includes participants in costumes. Participants can register at www.wecarelosalamitos.org or by phone (562) 598-9790.
The event is a fundraiser for We Care Family Resource Center, which provides a comprehensive, seamless range of services to prevent individuals and families from becoming homeless.
Monetary help such as rental assistance, utility assistance and DMV fees can be given to alleviate temporary crises.
Food, personal care items, and clothes are available at no cost to clients.
Case Management provides individualized case plans for each family and individual to be sure that basic needs are met along with achieving self-sufficiency. Clients have access to a myriad of other services through We Care referrals to shelters, medical and legal services, and jobs.
Register at 10 a.m. or on line at wecarelosalamitos.org.
The famous Dog Parade starts at 2 p.m. with free registration scheduled from noon to 2. All dogs from Rossmoor and neighboring cities are welcome.
And the food! The Knights of the Holy Grill will be back again along with other popular food vendors for a variety of snacks and drinks.
Visit the many vendors displaying jewelry, artwork, crafts, specialty clothing, cosmetics, and other specialty products, services and community organizations.
Stop to see representatives from utility companies, Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Orange County Fire Department and many organizations with vital information regarding emergency preparedness and neighborhood watch.
This year’s title corporate sponsor is Alamitos Eye Care. Other sponsors include Denali Solar, Print Masters, Kim Archer, First Team Real Estate, Lynette and O’Bryan Realty, and Pet Sit Pros.
