Remington the sea lion was released at about 7:30 a.m., Aug. 3 by Darin Denos with help and instructions from Shawn Abbey from the Pacific Marine Mammal Center.
Remington was part of a group of sea lions released at Aliso Beach in Laguna Beach.
Remington’s rehabilitation was 117 days long at PMMC , under the care and supervision of Dr. Alissa Deming and staff. When she was found her weight was at 24 pounds. She was released at 71 pounds. She also had a laceration on her chin, pox, and lungworm that she overcame while under the care of PMMC staff.
As previously reported, Remington came ashore in Seal Beach. According to Denos, who alerted the Sun to the story, Remington was found on a beach blanket. (See “Remington the sea lion is doing well at Pacific Marine Mammal Center,”)
Responding PMMC staff Cristina Robinson and Shawn Abbey picked Remington up and cared for her for 117 days.
“The privilege to get to release Remington back to the Ocean was a moment that I will never forget it was unbelievable,” Denos said.
“I would highly recommend volunteering and or donating to this fantastic cause,” Denos said.
“Thank you to Pacific Marine Mammal Center and staff and to each and every person that donated to them and Remington’s recovery,” Denos said.
