Animal control officers from Long Beach captured a diamondback rattlesnake described as 4 feet long on Catalina Avenue, Seal Beach, Monday, March 16.
Ted Stevens, manager of Long Beach Animal Care Services, said his agency was looking for a rattlesnake rescue group to take in the snake. Stevens said the rattler would not be released into the area. He said rattlersnakes are not common to this area.
The snake was first seen by children who were walking their dogs. Police were initially notified at 10:58 a.m. For details, see the story in the Thursday print edition of the Sun.
