Project priorities, medical marijuana and city manager pay on council agenda

Tonight’s Seal Beach City Council agenda will include the following:

• A discussion of priorities for construction and maintenance projects (which city officials call the Capital Improvement Program).

• A proposal to raise the city manager’s pay. (This is a Consent Calendar item and will not be discussed unless pulled off the Consent Calendar at the request of a council member.)

• A proposed urgency ordinance to ban the cultivation of medical marijuana in Seal Beach. Recent changes to state law have given California cities until March 1 to make their own medical marijuana growing laws or have that authority revert to the state government.

The regular meeting will be held at 7 p.m., in the City Council Chambers at 211 Eighth St.

The agenda for the 5:30 p.m. closed session includes labor negotiations with the city’s Police Officers Association and the initiation of one lawsuit.
