Pedestrain struck by car on Main Street

A pedstrian was struck by a car on late Friday afternoon, March the 200 block of Main Street, Seal Beach, in front of the offices of the Sun. Details of the circustances surrounding the traffic accident are not known at this time.

This sign was installed on the 300 block of Main Street to prevent pedestrian injuries.

Police and a fire truck were on the scene within a few minutes. Police closed off automobile traffic briefly while emergency personnel attended to the victim. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

Pedestrian safety on Main Street is a long-standing issue in the Old Town business area. A tall yellow sign on the 300 block of Main Street warns drivers that California law requires vehicles to stop when a pedestrian is in the crosswalk.
