Opinion: Season’s greetings from District 1

As we enter this most joyous time of the year, my husband Ron and I wish you a very Happy Holiday season as you celebrate with family and friends.

We also wish you a prosperous New Year filled with God’s richest blessings of faith, hope and love.

There is a lot happening to celebrate the season in Old Town this year.

Main Street is dressed and ready for your shopping enjoyment.

Our stores offer a unique selection of items for all ages.

Remember to Shop Local: it helps our businesses, it helps our quality of life, it helps our property values … and it’s fun, too.

Christmas Parade

This coming Friday, Dec. 7, the annual Seal Beach Christmas parade will begin at 7 p.m.

Main Street will be closed at 5 p.m. as will Ocean Avenue between 11th and 8th streets.

The parade begins at Ocean Avenue and ends on Pacific Coast Highway.

The parade starts at 7 p.m. and will conclude by 8:30 p.m. Parade Announcers are located along Main Street at Ocean, Central, Electric and at 321 Main St.

This is a favorite Seal Beach event. I look forward to seeing you there.

Breakfast with Santa

Breakfast with Santa from 8 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 15. The city of Seal Beach, which co-sponsors the event with the Seal Beach Lions and Leo’s Club. will have the annual Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 15 at the Marina Center. Take a family photo, jump in the bounce house, and sit on Santa’s lap with your Christmas wish list. Make it a Seal Beach family affair. Marina Community Center is located at 151 Marina Dr.

Christmas Tree special pickup

Christmas trees will be collected for two weeks after Christmas beginning Dec. 26, 2012. Put your tree out with your trash and it will be collected.

Animal Control

I have received many complaints of dogs running off leash. Please keep your dog(s) on leash. This is for their safety as well as for the safety of others.

If you encounter a dog off leash, please call the Long Beach Animal Control as they are contracted to service our animal control needs. The phone number is: (562) 570-7387.

Seal Beach Boulevard Bridge widening

I hope you are finding ways to avoid the traffic going over the bridge. Once it is completed it will be very smooth going, but getting there is going to take time and patience. If you need any information on freeway closures or other information regarding the construction, please contact OCTA at www.octa.net/westcounty or if you prefer, you can email: wccproject@octa.net.

If I can be of any assistance please contact me.
