Happy New Year! What an amazing January. Who would think our weather would be in the 80’s with great beach days? We are so blessed to live in Seal Beach. May 2014 be your best year ever.
Crime is Down 17% in Seal Beach
Crime decreased 17 percent during the past year in our town. Chief Joe attributes the decline to an increased focus on crime trends and partnerships within the community. The Chief tells us that the majority of our crime is theft, with most of it being items we have left in our cars. This crime is easily prevented by removing our valuables when we leave our vehicle. Please be sure your vehicles and homes are locked and there are no valuables left in plain sight. Also consider placing motion detector lights around your property. Working together we can lower our crime statistics even more!

Coyotes in Seal Beach
Orange and Los Angeles counties are working together to minimize coyotes in residential areas, but the fact is they have abundant food and water and the population is growing. Please keep your pets in the house and keep food and water for them inside as well. Be aware that coyotes are all over Seal Beach including here at the beach, in Old Town and Surfside. They are looking for food and water. And they are finding it in food and water left out for animals and small animals allowed to roam outside. If you see a coyote the best thing to do is to haze it so it will leave. Here is a short video on how to haze a coyote:

Emergency number:
Program 562-594-7232 into your phone.
Now that so many no longer have land line phones, it is very important to know that if you dial 911 from your cell phone you most likely will not be connected to our local Dispatch Center causing delays in service. In case of emergency, use a landline and dial 911, if possible. If it is not possible to use a land line, then you may call the Dispatch Center directly from your cell phone: 562-594-7232. Please program this number into your cell phone for Seal Beach emergencies.
