A Southern California Edison representative told the City Council this week that the company was reviewing the recent Old Town power outages. Resident Deborah Harding said there had been five outages in the area since January. She said she was tired of excuses from Edison. According to Janelle Bader, an Edison public affairs representative, the outages have been caused by a combination of branches falling on power lines, equipment failures and bad weather during a short period of time. “We’ve had a run of bad luck,” Bader said.
She said an Edison engineer was taking a historical look at outages in the Old Town area. The engineer will participate in next week’s meeting with city staff. Chamber of Commerce President Tom Rowe said the biggest issue for the business community is the loss of income caused by outages. According to Bader, anyone wanting to file a claim with Edison may email claims@sce.com or call 800-251-3311.Councilman Michael Varipapa said the community needed a contact person at Edison if outages happen frequently.
