On Monday, Oct. 22, the Orange County Transportation Authority Board of Directors voted in favor of the first alternative for the planned I-405 improvement project. The OCTA will ad a general purpose lane in each direction from Euclid Street to the I-605 interchange.
“OCTA staff recommended Alternative 3, which was voted down,” wrote Supervisor John Moorlach in his Update to his constituents.
Moorlach favored Alternative 2, which also failed.
The Board then voted for Alternative 1, which is what was promised in Measure M2.
The other alternatives were:
- Alternative 2 would have added two general purpose lanes in each direction.
- Alternative three would have added one general purpose lane in each direction and add a toll lane in each direction.
CalTrans will select its preferred alternative on an unspecified date in early 2013, according to the OCTA website.
