The South Coast Chapter of National Charity League, Inc. (NCL), the nation’s premier mother-daughter volunteer organization, has announced its Annual Membership Drive and has begun accepting applications from women with daughters currently in 6th through 9th grade. The South Coast Chapter is comprised of nearly 375 members who reside in Seal Beach, Los Alamitos, Rossmoor, Cypress, Huntington Beach and Long Beach.
South Coast Chapter mother-daughter teams volunteered just over 24,000 philanthropy hours in the 2018-2019 year for 19 philanthropic organizations in the community, including Ability First, Boys and Girls Club of Cypress, Casa Youth Shelter, Children’s Dental Health Clinic, Historical Society of Long Beach, Jonathan Jaques Children’s Cancer Center, Katella Manor, Long Beach Symphony Orchestra, Los Alamitos Education Foundation, Meals on Wheels Long Beach, Military Reserves, Miss Charity’s Attic Thrift Boutique, New Life Beginnings, Operation Valentine, Pathways to Independence, Precious Life Shelter, Public Libraries, Relay for Life, and We Care.
Over the past year, the Chapter has been able to cheer on juvenile cancer patients and survivors at the Torch Run supporting the Jonathan Jaques Children’s Cancer Institute, they have played bingo and delivered meals to senior citizens in the community, they have created care packages and provided holiday support to our military veterans, they have babysat newborns while at-risk mothers attended life skills classes and so much more.
“We are excited for the opportunity to welcome new mothers and daughters into our Chapter as we continue to create life-long philanthropists who graciously serve the community,” said Sheila Totorp, South Coast Chapter President.
