McAuliffe Middle School in Los Alamitos will kick-off what is to become an annual event, a Fit-A-Thon.
It will be held at 8:45 a.m. on Friday, March 30.
The newly renamed jog-a-thon is a day to “Get Fit” and promotes health, well being, and reinforces the importance of physical activity in each students’ daily lives. During their regularly scheduled PE class, students will engage in various activities: running, obstacle course, and tire relay races to name a few.
All students are encouraged to participate in this action-packed day of fun and are given the option to collect individual monetary donations from donors to support the school. The goal is to raise $50,000. All monies earned will help purchase new technology and classroom furniture for the newly remodeled school site.
The recent district modernization has been completed on the 50-year-old campus.
The Fit-A-Thon committee said it thinks the fundraising goal is quite attainable with the help of over 1200 dedicated students that attend McAuliffe by securing donations from family, friends, and/or the local community.
By sponsoring one of the many students participating in this year’s event, many of you will be making a positive difference in these students’ lives and helping a local school achieve great success by reaching this very big goal.
All monetary contributions are tax deductible and can be sent directly to McAuliffe PTA.
