A Leisure World man died Monday, May 28, eight days after he was struck by a car in Leisure World. Because the death occurred eight days after the collision, it is not clear if he died as a result of his injuries or other causes. The Seal Beach Police Department is investigating the case.
On Sunday May 20, at 5:39 p.m. Seal Beach officers responded to the area of Saint Andrews and Tam O’Shanter located in Leisure World, to investigate a traffic collision involving between a motor vehicle and a man in a motorized wheelchair.
The 86-year-old man in the wheelchair was injured and was transported to Long Beach Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. He died in the hospital on Monday, May 28.
The driver of the car that struck the motorized wheel chair was a woman identified as Dale Snyder Quinn, 75, and a resident of Leisure World. She was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence in violation of 23153(a) CVC and 23153(b) CVC and booked at the Seal Beach Police Department. However, Quinn was later released due to an immediate medical condition.
Both the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and the Seal Beach Police Department are conducting the investigation.
