Luther Burbank Savings, one of the largest privately held financial institutions in California with nearly $4 billion in assets, has opened a branch in Long Beach, at 5348 2nd Street.

“As a private savings institution which has been profitable for the last 126 consecutive quarters, Luther Burbank Savings is very judicious in its selection of markets,” said John Biggs, president and chief executive officer of Luther Burbank Savings.

“We anticipate that customers in Belmont Shore and the surrounding communities will appreciate a bank that is fiscally strong, professional and customer-focused,” he said.

The Long Beach location is the ninth branch of Luther Burbank Savings.

In Southern California, the bank also has branches in Beverly Hills, Encino, Pasadena, and Toluca Lake.

In northern California, where the bank was established in 1983, there are branches in Los Altos, San Jose, San Rafael and Santa Rosa. Local Belmont Shore resident Cynthia Schmidt will serve as branch manager of the new Long Beach location. Schmidt has nearly 30 years of experience in banking.

The Long Beach branch of Luther Burbank Savings is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The phone number is 562-344-1800.
