Los Alamitos to host the 2013 Bronco World Series

Pony Baseball has selected Los Alamitos Youth Baseball to host the 2013 Bronco World Series.

The Bronco World Series will feature some of the best 11 to 12-year-old teams in the world, including teams from Asia, Mexico, the Caribbean as well as regional champions from throughout the United States and the LAYB Bronco All-Star team.

Teams qualify for the World Series by advancing through a series of local, regional and national tournaments.

With nearly 30,000 teams, over 450,000 players and 4,000 leagues across the globe, Pony Baseball is one of the most popular and fastest growing youth baseball organizations in the world.

Bronco players are the same age as those in the Little League World Series held annually in Williamsport, PA.

The difference between the Pony brand of baseball and Little League is that Pony more closely resembles Major League Baseball (MLB) play.  Pony plays by MLB rules allowing both leadoffs and stealing and field dimensions are more appropriately sized for this age group.

In 2012, LAYB celebrated its 50th anniversary as a youth baseball league.  “LAYB is excited that Pony Baseball has selected our league to host the World Series.  It is a tribute to all the volunteers that make this a first-class organization.

Not only is this great for our league, but we are excited for the opportunity it brings to the Los Alamitos community and baseball fans across Southern California,” said Brian Gorman, LAYB League President. The 2013 Pony Baseball Bronco World Series will be played August 1 to 4, 2013 at the LAYB fields located at 4370 Farquhar Ave., Los Alamitos, California.

LAYB is a non-profit youth baseball organization based in Los Alamitos, California serving Los Alamitos, Seal Beach, Long Beach, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Stanton, Westminster, Cypress and neighboring communities. LAYB is an all-volunteer organization that offers both Fall and Spring baseball programs to boys and girls ages 4-14.

Registration for the 2013 season will begin in November and continue through the end of the year.  For more information, visit www.layb.org.
