Bring the whole family to the 50th Anniversary Carnival at Laurel Park (corner of Katella and Bloomfield) and you’re in for a good time! Join us on Friday, March 26, 5 – 11 p.m, Saturday, March 27, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday, March 28, from noon to 10 p.m.
The 50th Anniversary Parade on Saturday, March 27 at 9 am has over 85 entries at press time.
The parade features the Los Alamitos High School Band, the powerful Griffin football team, the 40th Division Infantry Band from the Joint Forces Training Base, Weaver, Rossmoor, Lee, Hopkinson and Los Alamitos Elementary Schools, McAuliffe Middle School jazz band and studio singers, and numerous youth and non-profit groups.
The parade route starts at Los Alamitos High School and ends at Laurel Park on the corner of Katella and Bloomfield.
Spectator parking is available before 7:30 a.m. at McAuliffe Middle School.
Cerritos (between Los Alamitos Blvd and Bloomfield) and Bloomfield (between Cerritos and Katella) will be closed to thru traffic at 7:30 a.m. The carnival features rides, game booths, a vendor fair and great food available for purchase. On Saturday, bring your dancing shoes and be ready for a special entertainment treat at 8 p.m. from The Barcodes, a popular local classic rock band who will be appearing live on the main stage.
They will entertain the crowd with popular tunes from the 60s, 70s, and 80s.
The Barcodes have been rocking the Southern California scene for 12 years.
Other featured entertainment at the carnival includes the Rockit Scientists playing on Friday night, March 26 from 7-10 p.m., and the Raymies on Sunday, March 28 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
