Los Alamitos issues statement on murders

Los Alamitos officials formally offered the prayers of city residents for the victims of the Salon Meritage shootings in a press release issued Thursday, Oct. 13. The press release said:

“On behalf of the residents, City Council, and staff of the city of Los Alamitos our prayers and best wishes go out to the victims and their families of the tragic event occurring in our neighboring community Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 12). Our community, City Council, and staff are on hand to provide whatever assistance and support we can. Our police officers and other members of staff were on scene and remain willing to help at the first call.

‘Our neighbors experienced the largest mass murder in Orange County [Wednesday] afternoon. The level of cooperation between the Police Departments of Los Alamitos, Seal Beach, Cypress, and others was unprecedented in the professional performance of the duties required [Wednesday]. If nothing else, this issue reminds us that we need to be compassionate and ever vigilant,’ said Los Alamitos Police Chief Todd Mattern.

‘These are senseless acts, and there is just no way to explain them,’ said Mayor Ken Stephens, ‘but to the extent possible, our community’s resources remain on hand to provide assistance to the people of Seal Beach in whatever manner necessary.’
