Los AL divers in lead heading into Sunset League Finals

Los Alamitos High School Sophomore, Madelyn “Dolly” Payne heads to Sunset League Diving Championships in first place for the Varsity Girls.

Sunset League Varsity Championships are today, Thursday, May 2, with CIFSS Division 1 Championships the following Tuesday.

Payne is in a good position to win her second League Championship with four wins in the five regular season meets.

Los Al could walk away with additional medals with strong regular season finishes from Senior, Skylar Kensinger and Freshman, Sydney Strickland. Los Al senior  Leigh Hodgson, Marina High School’s Lena Ngo and Jenny Liu, and Edison High School’s Tiffany Davis and Leilani Cooper are all working to be in the medals at Sunset Leaue finals.

Huntington Beach High School freshman Brandon Loschiavo, leads the Varsity Boys. Loschiavo broke the three-year-old Sunset League record of 594.90 points by earning 595 points, in week 1 competition.  Loschiavo’s former gymnastics teammate, Grant Newcombe from Marina High School has had a number of good meets during the regular season. Fellow Marina diver Robbie Demski, Edison’s Ian Bearss and Fountain Valley’s John Richardson will all be fighting for Varsity Boys medals.
