The Huntington Beach Tree Society recently announced some of their accomplishments for 2023. They added/replaced trees in Chris Carr Park, Lake View Park, Le Bard Park, Irby Park, Edison Park, Oak View, Marina Park, Moffett Park, Murdy Park, Newland Park, Perry Park, Sowers Park, Sun View Park, Talbert Park, Bartlett Park, Clegg-Stacy Park, Drew Park, Farquhar Park, Lake Park, Helme Park, Harbor View Park, Arevalos Park, Tarbox Park in Huntington Harbour, Bluff Top Park, Seely Park, Worthy Park, Hawes Park, Burke Park, Langenbeck Park, Triangle Park, Sun View Park and Gisler Park.
Founding members of Shipley Nature Center worked for two years deleting all the non native plant/trees.
Right now we are maintaining the front of The Nature Center by adding more trees, flowers and beautiful boulders and keeping it weeded. We have had Arbor Day and other events since we started as a 501c3 in 1998.
Huntington Beach Tree Society President Jean Nagy said: “Our biggest accomplishment was getting the boulders from The Seacliff Office Park and distributing them around Central Park West, The Shipley to Shore Trail, The Urban Forest and Gibbs Park.”
Huntington Beach Mayor Pro Tem Pat Burns said: “The HB Tree Society work for our parks and other areas are incredible. Through the years they have supplied, received, distributed and planted hundreds of trees, most of which we still enjoy and can be found all around Our City. Their service to our community is greatly valued.”
According to Steve Engel, Tree Society member, 2024 is the city’s celebration of Huntington Central Park’s 50th Birthday. The public’s hand and foot prints are all around its trees, boulders and habitat. If you would like to get involved and learn more visit: http://www.hbtrees.org or call: (562) 760-0733.
