City hired lobbyist in closed session?

I cannot be at the council meeting Monday but am very concerned about our city spending $120,000 on a lobbyist!! (re: an Orange County Fire Authority issue.)

Surely our small city could have joined with other cities on this issue! These costly decisions should not be made behind doors, in closed sessions!

Our city needs much more transparency, as I experienced firsthand with the pier restaurant bidding process. Far too much goes on in secrecy in our city and the residents, whose dollars are being spent, should be concerned.

Petition signed by 1,400

There are those in Leisure World that are in position of power.  This is a great responsibility which means looking out for the best interests of the masses rather than the few.  As representatives of our community they are either hired or elected for the betterment of the community as a whole.  The Leisure World residents  have placed their trust in them on decisions that will affect their every day lives.  With that, our representatives should make decisions based on the majority during their tenure. There have been 1,400 plus residents that signed a petition because they are displeased with reducing two lanes in each direction to one on St. Andrews.  (Between Golden Rain and the South Gate.)

Golden Rain representatives’ decisions as mentioned comes with it great responsibility.  By accepting a position of power, as representatives you are held at a higher standard both morally and legally.  So please listen to your constituents.  By moving forward with reducing a two lane into one going one direction would be unforgiving when trying to avoid any accidents.  St.  Andrews is Leisure World Main Street.  It’s a street in totality that is a focal point serving the residents, churchgoers,  medical center, amphitheater and GRF’s administration building.  To change the configuration at any point in St Andrews would be a disservice to the residents in Leisure World.

Parading in New York for Easter

A friendly persuasion made us participate in the famous Easter Parade  on Fifth Aveenue in New York City. After the Mass at St. Patrick Cathedral where I was a choir member, my husband and I participated at the parade. Mostly donned with beautiful attire including dogs, cats, parrots and rabbits. My husband bought me a gorgeous printed blue dress with matching hat, bag and shoes. My husband looked sharp with his light blue suit.

We met newlyweds from Ireland and had fun socializing while busy waving at the spectators.

After the parade we braved the snake line at Madison Square Garden for brunch and bowled at the modern Madison Square Gardens bowling alley. My husband won the game.

What a pleasant way to celebrate Easter.

A modest propoal

I don’t know how other countries interrogate terrorists when they capture them but here in the US we treat them with respect. After all, they are human   beings just like everyone else.

Just because they cut off people’s heads,  burn them alive, drown them and use other tortuous ways doesn’t mean we should be mean to them by water boarding them to extract information that could save innocent lives. Water boarding would make them uncomfortable and hurt their feelings. We are Americans and we don’t want to offend any one.

I believe the ACLU should always be there when we question terrorists to make sure we don’t ask them embarrassing questions or violate their civil rights.

We are a nation of proud liberals even if it doesn’t make any sense!
