Letters to the Editor: July 22, 2010

Compliments to Seal Beach from Valencia visitors

I visited your charming town on Sunday July 18, 2010 with my family as we have many times in the past and we had a most enjoyable day.

Living in Valencia in Santa Clarita we needed a break from the heat and Seal Beach was our first choice to visit.

The weather was perfect, people were friendly the shops were lovely. As usual Main Street was well maintained and orderly.

The town is not in need of places to eat or snack shops to par-take in one’s sweet-tooth.

We walked the pier and took in all of the activities, especially the fishing.

We were fortunate enough to be there on Sunday, July 18 to join in on the festivities at the Lions Club fish fry.

The fried fish was yummy!

The crowd was congenial and everyone was having a good time as it should of been!!

I came across your The Sun Newspaper on a bench where I decided to rest.

My first thought was to scan the index of the papers contents and I came across “Letters to the Editor.”

At that moment I decided to write the above letter to the Sun.

Hope that you will take this letter under consideration for publication?

Bad neighbors represent businesses on Main Street

My neighbors finally had their say at the City Council meeting Monday night when they shared a file that has culminated over years of abuse and violations to city code in the back alley of Main Street by a known business.

In addition, based on copies of letters they provided the council, these residents have endured bizarre threats and intimidation from this business.

This documented behavior is absurd and a blatent snub to the city in its management of rouge businesses.

My hat is off to City Council Member Charles Antos for finally forcing the city to be accountable to its residents after so many years of this harassment.

Thumbs also down to the business community that allows its “so called” leadership to trample on our neighbors.

I support the city in its efforts to clean up the circus on Main Street.

Unfortunately, the many good business partners to the city will have to endure increased scrutiny because of the few bad business partners of the city.

Maybe business owners in town will wise up and pick leaders that have a smart voice instead of just a loud voice.
