A Running Experience

On Dec. 19, Long Beach, California Mayor Bob Foster and City Councilman Gary DeLong honored A Running Experience Club of Long Beach for 30 years of service to the Long Beach Community through the club’s dedication to, and promotion of an active and healthy lifestyle.

The ceremony was held as a prelude to AREC’s weekly Wednesday night fun run.

Over 200 AREC members turned out to attend the presentation ceremony by Mayor Foster and Councilman DeLong.

The Mayor presented a Certificate of Recognition highlighting the club’s contributions to the community through its programs and through the clubs sponsorship and support of local events that benefit charities and organizations engaged in making the greater Long Beach area a great place to live.

Mayor Foster commented in his presentation that the enthusiasm and energy that the club members displayed was clear evidence of how individual commitments to physical fitness lead to a healthy and vibrant community.  Following the presentation, Councilman DeLong joined the group for a 4-mile run.
