Letters to the Editor: April 5, 2012

A good performance

I went to the rousing musical Damn Yankees at the Huntington Beach High School Bell Tower. It was every bit as fun and well performed as any of the hundreds I’ve seen in Hollywood or Los Angeles.

The live and lively high school band never missed a beat, the pyrotechnics led by Bradley Bangi, the professionalism of the actors (particularly the Devil played by Garrett Brown), dancers and singers, brought this all-American musical to a standing-ovation-conclusion.

This is Classic Broadway at it’s very best and not to be missed. All of the young actors, dancers and singers will keep you glued to your seat with the life lessons this hysterical play teaches.

Poll results

The following comments were posted on the Sun website in response to the poll question: “Should Seal Beach bring back the sand castle event?”

As of press time Tuesday, April 3, 90 percent of voters said, “Yes.” Ten percent said they had no opinion.

Events need volunteers

Special events, like the sand castle contest, take dedicated volunteers to make them fun, successful and renewable. Find the right ones to take on this task and “let ‘er roll” …

Idiotic ideas

How about burying the idiotic ideas related to planting ficus trees on Main Street in any holes left in the sand.
