Over the past several years, many fraternal organizations have donated their time and money to fight the ever present epidemic of substance abuse.
For years, the Knights of Columbus have been active in the fight against substance abuse by conducting substance abuse awareness poster contests for young people.
During Red Ribbon Week, Saint Anne’s Knights of Columbus, Council 9594, sponsored a substance abuse awareness poster contest at McGaugh Elementary School, Seal Beach. On Dec. 2, at Saint Anne’s Catholic Church, the winners of the contest were announced and cash awards presented.
The winners were: Rory McMahon, Jack Sanchez and Ava Lopez.
The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic Family and Fraternal Service Organization with over 1.8 million members in 14,500 local councils. Last year Knights donated more than 70 million volunteer hours and $162 million to positive causes.
