Rob Jahncke, the new owner of Javatinis on Main Street in Seal Beach, had a celebrity from the coffee world train the staff on Tuesday, May 25.
Heather Perry, from the Coffee Klatch up in San Dimas, trained the employees to make espresso drinks including lattes and cappuccinos.
Perry has 15 years of experience in the coffee industry. She began her coffee career at the age of eleven by washing dishes and sweeping floors in her parent’s coffeehouse.
By the age of 15, Perry was working behind the espresso machine and experimenting with different drinks.
Perry holds many barista titles including 2003 and 2007 U.S. Barista Champion, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 Western Barista Champion, 2007-2010 Ultimate Barista Champion and finished second in the World at World Championships in Tokyo.
Perry graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a degree in international business and marketing.
Additionally, Jahncke is planning on installing new coffee equipment, a new water treatment system and introducing the latest barista skills in crafting coffee.
“I have been pursuing this profession by training up in Portland Oregon at Bellisimo Coffee School,” he said. “I’ve had involvement with the SCAA (Specialty Coffee Association of America), and lots of time visiting coffee shops all over the country in Seattle, Portland, Midwest, and Southern California.
