Seal Beach resident, Jake Weir, age 13, earned the rank of Eagle Scout, December 8th, 2009. His project, a “Reading Garden”, consisting of two arbor benches with plants and a brick pathway, built at his former elementary school, took nearly 400 hours to plan and execute. Jake has been a member of Troop 1999 since the age of 5 – all of his scouting years. Jake’s older sister, Chelsea and his parents Scott and Betty Weir, are all so proud of him! Jake is the grandson of longtime Seal Beach residents Larry Weir (Deceased), former Scoutmaster of Troop 3 here in Seal Beach and the late Jerdys(Jody) Weir, former City Clerk of Seal Beach for 13 years.
