The annual Beaglefest event held on the first Saturday in May of each year took place next to Huntington Beach Central Park West’s Dog Park. The event drew 45 beagles and their owners from all over Southern California. There were plenty of barks in the park from cities like Huntington Beach, Long Beach, Gardena, North Hollywood, Costa Mesa, Anaheim and Eastvale.
“Beaglefest is all camaraderie for people and pets who share a common bond.” said event organizer Judy Wolfe of Huntington Beach.
Each year a pet rescue organization participates. This year Bean’s Beagles brought five pups of all ages who are looking for homes. Attendees were able to meet them, walk them, and make donations to the non-profit. One of the lucky pups found a foster home at the event.
A group photo, Pooch Parade, and Play Time in the park’s fenced area are the day’s highlights. Beagles are very docile, cute, and lovable, according to attendees who interacted with curious passers-by in the park that day.
Carolyn DiMarco of Huntington Beach, who brought her beagle with her husband Chad, said: “We thought Beaglefest was adorable! Who knew so many different types of Beagles existed! We’ll be back again next year. Any beagle enthusiast should attend Beaglefest!”
