Actor Frank Ferrante will star in “An Afternoon with Groucho” at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Richard and Karen Carpenter Center for the Performing Arts in Long Beach.
Ferrante has been touted as “the greatest living interpreter of Groucho Marx’s material!” His acclaimed portrayal of the legendary comedian is loaded with the best of Groucho’s spontaneous hilarity. The family-friendly two-act comedy consists of the best Groucho one-liners, anecdotes and songs including “Hooray for Captain Spalding,” and “Lydia, the Tattooed Lady.” The audience becomes part of the show as Ferrante ad-libs his way throughout the performance in grand Groucho style. Accompanied by his onstage pianist, Jim Furmston, Ferrante portrays the young Groucho of stage and film and reacquaints us with the likes of brothers Harpo, Chico, Zeppo and Gummo.
The Carpenter Performing Arts Center is located at 6200 Atherton St., on the campus of California State University, Long Beach. For more information, call (562) 985-7000.
