The Seal Beach Animal Care Center has started construction on the long awaited Helen Sanders Cat Facility on Tuesday Dec. 6. Ray Holmes Construction was awarded the building contract on Nov. 27 and the heavy equipment was on site the following week.
After all the history this project has had, Care Center Project Liaison Vicki Hickam was excited.
“I am thrilled that the project is now moving along quickly, to become the new home for our wonderful cats and kittens,” she said.
The project is expected to take approximately four months for completion, and then the employees, volunteers and cats will be making the big move.
We invite the public to come see our felines and the progress being made on this important new feature of the Care Center.
There will be naming opportunities for those interested in making donations in Helen Sanders’ honor. Seal Beach is a very special community, especially when it comes to animals in need of temporary housing while they wait for their “forever homes.”
In conjunction with the new building, the shelter is announcing its December Cat Adoption Promotion. During the month of December, approved adopters will get to take home their new family members for the donation of their choice ($25 minimum) when you adopt one (or more!) of our cats 6 months of age or older.
