The Los Alamitos High baseball team pulled within one game of first place in the Sunset League with a two-game sweep of Marina.
The Griffins defeated the Vikings, 3-2, at home on Tuesday, April 10 and then pulled out another one-run victory, 4-3, at Marina on Thursday.
On Thursday, April 12, the Griffins scored two runs in the sixth and two in the seventh to rally past the Vikings.
Both teams are now 4-3 in league play and sit one game behind Huntington Beach and Edison, both at 5-2. Brendan Heffern had two hits and an RBI in the win on Thursday.
Mick Schroeder also had two hits and scored a run and Frank Padulo scored two runs.
Jacob Nix pitched six innings to get the win, with six strikeouts and just four hits allowed.
Two days prior, the Griffins were able to pull out the 3-2 win over the Vikings, despite being out-hit, 10-4.
Starting pitcher Michael Farris scattered nine hits, with five strikeouts, while allowing just two runs through six innings. Farris also had a hit and scored a run, while Chad Katz added a hit and an RBI.
