In a hard fought game, the Griffins Boy’s basketball team fended off an aggressive Edison Chargers team 51-49 Friday, Jan. 29.
“(Griffin) James Walker was 11 for 15 from the field and scored big baskets down the stretch for us,” Coach Cary Kutzke said.
The Griffin team had suffered a stunning loss the week before at Marina and had a week of finals before they took to the floor on Friday night to play the Chargers.
James Walker III had 23 points and Jack Haley dumped in 13 points. Meanwhile, Camryn Crocker contributed 7 points for the Griffins top three scorers.
The game was exciting with the Griffins leading by as much as 10 points.
But an aggressive and determined Edison team kept the Griffins honest by making several runs during the game, none of which paid off.
The Griffins started the second half of league play with a victory, which keeps them in first place and 5-1 in league.
