Friendship group to hear international music lecture

Journey with the Seal Beach International Friendship Association (“SBIFA”) as they learn about music from around the world at their next meeting on Thursday evening, Oct. 18.

Dr. Nagendra Reddy of Leisure World will embrace instrumental and vocal music from different countries, accompanied by slides.

Some of the tunes may be familiar and others new, e.g., “La Paloma” sung in French.

Since music is an international language and does not require understanding the words, attendees will have an auditory feast by listening to the sheer beauty of the music—the variations in the tempo, pitch and rhythm and receive a deeper appreciation of the rich diversity of peoples around the world.

This will be SBIFA’s last dinner meeting until next January. To celebrate the diversity of our various cultures the dinner will be an International Potluck.

Those with initials from N-Z are asked to bring a favorite international dish for 8-10 people.

Those with last name initials from A-M are asked to bring a new, nice unwrapped gift worth at least $5 for their opportunity drawing.

The potluck dinner meeting will take place at the Senior Center of the Mary Wilson Library, 707 Electric Ave., Seal Beach, at 6:30 p.m. There is a $5 donation for this meeting. The public is welcome.
