Los Alamitos Youth Flag Football “Friday Night Lights” is a non-profit organization that was founded by Mark Broersma and Chris Ketcham in 2006.

Mark and Chris have many years of playing experience in many different sports and now volunteer a considerable amount of time coaching all youth sports in the Los Alamitos area.

Mark and Chris currently serve on the board of directors for Los Alamitos National Junior Basketball with Mark being the Chapter Director.

Their vision is to bring a high quality fun Flag Football league to the cities of Seal Beach and Los Alamitos.

Previously kids in this area had very limited, if any, opportunities to participate in the exciting sport of flag football.

The league is for boys and girls of all different skill levels who are in grades K-8.

Online registration for the fall season takes place during the month of May with practices beginning in August and games beginning in September.

Registration for the spring season takes place in November with practices beginning in February and games beginning in late February.

The format is a 6×6 passing league with very little contact, if any.  Ideally, we will have no more than eight players per team.  Players play a minimum of three out of four quarters.

As for the Championship, there were 60 teams in the 3rd/4th-grade division this past Fall.  The kids played three play-off games Friday, Dec. 7 and then the winners went on to play Dec. 14.

Those winners played in the semi-championship game immediately following the first game and then the winners of those games played in the Championship game immediately following the second game.  The Auburn Tigers played the Florida Gators in the championship game.
