Police made six arrests, five for Driving Under the Influence, during the Memorial Day weekend traffic checkpoint in Seal Beach. On Saturday, May 24, the 1,300 vehicles passed through the checkpoint. Of those, 534 were screened. Police made two DUI arrests and one individual was arrested on a narcotics warrant. Officers issued four citations. The weather was overcast, according to Sgt. Phil Gonshak, public information officer for the Seal Beach Police Department.
On Sunday, May 25, 2,055 vehicles passed through the check point. Of those, 437 were screened. Police made three DUI arrests. Officers issued five citations.
The checkpoint was held on Seal Beach Boulevard, near the SBPD headquarters.
