The city’s recreation manager recently confirmed that First Street will be available for runners and walkers for the 2019 Run Seal Beach.
Seal Beach Recreation Manager Tim Kelsey said the city had been working with the contractor doing the road work for Shea Homes on First Street.
“Run Seal Beach has been built into their construction schedule,” Kelsey said.
He said the contractors know that the public right of way must be available for the Run.
The annual April 6 fundraiser to support local recreation and fitness programs in the community features a 5K Walk, 5K Run, a 10K Run and a “Kids 1K Fun Run.”
The 10K, 5K and 1K courses all start on First Street, according to the Run Seal Beach website. This is well-known to everyone who participates as a racer or volunteer or who lives on First.
However, construction is taking place on First Street that is related to the Shea Homes project to build a park and high-end residential housing on the former DWP property that will one day be Ocean Place.
