Fire destroys mobile home

A fire destroyed a home in Seal Beach Shores, the local mobile home park. The fire occurred Sunday night, Sept. 17. The resident of the home lost her home but she was apparently unharmed physically.

The woman lost her possessions and it has been confirmed that her two dogs died. “On Sunday 9/17/23, at 2126 hours, Officers and OCFA responded to a structure fire of a residence which was fully engulfed on RiverSea Rd,” wrote Seal Beach Police Lt. Julia Clasby in a Sept. 18 email.

“OCFA quickly put the fire out and conducted an investigation,” Clasby wrote.

“No suspicious circumstances were relayed to PD,” Clasby wrote.

“Two dogs perished in the fire and were transported to WAGs by SB Animal Control,” Clasby wrote.

“We received the call at approximately 9:28 in the evening and arrived on scene to find a mobile home fully involved with fire,” wrote OCFA Fire Capt. Greg Barta in a Sept. 18 email.

“The fire was imminently threatening a 2 story home to the rear of the structure.  Firefighters did a tremendous job rapidly knocking the fire down and saving the home that was threatened.

“The cause is under investigation. No injuries to firefighters or civilians,” Barta wrote.

“Our crews train on these scenarios often and it paid off last night.  The rapid response, rapid deployment of resources, and sound strategy and tactics saved the nearby home from catching fire,” Barta wrote.
